If sensitive and confidential information will be sent by email, the email must be encrypted to protect the information.
What is encryption?
Encrypting an email message in Outlook converts it from readable plain text into scrambled cipher text. Only the recipient who has the private key that matches the public key used to encrypt the message can decipher the message for reading. Any recipient without the corresponding private key, however, sees indecipherable text.
What will the recipient see?

An external recipient will receive a message with a link to a portal where they can view and respond to the encrypted message. Click "Read the message".
